Lulu Lemon Ambassador 2015 - 2016
I graduated from Otago University in 2005, and worked for a few years before taking on and completing my masters degree in 2012.
I worked for a short time in a hospital setting before coming to private practice.
What I love about physiotherapy is the opportunity to help someone learn about how to move and use their body more effectively so that they can get back to doing what they love.
My interests are personal growth, yoga, Pilates. I weave these into my work with clients where relevant. I teach group fitness and compete in triathlon so draw on my experience in these settings to assist clients with their technique and planning.
I'm an avid consumer of podcasts on mindset, health, and wellness, and love to chat about anything in this area.
Over the years of physiotherapy work in Christchurch, and my own injury management journey I have developed a network of allied health professionals who I have worked with, or seen for treatment. I admire and respect these people who are amazing at what they do, and can confidently refer you to them if appropriate.
Bachelor of Therapeutic and Sports Massage
I am Clara, born and raised in Sweden and have been calling beautiful New Zealand home for the past 10 years. I am new in town and am thoroughly enjoying exploring Canterbury with all it has to offer.
I graduated with a Bachelor of Therapeutic and Sports Massage in December 2018 from The Southern Institute of Technology in Invercargill. I am passionate about finding balance within the musculoskeletal structure of the human body. Imbalances can cause problems, which in their turn cause pain/discomfort and in the end has an impact of our quality of life.
To correct these 'problems' I use assessment, a broad variety of massage techniques, stretching therapy, and working with you to strengthen areas which may be weak.
I enjoy helping people return to their previous level of activity/performance after their injury. I believe that rehab should involve activity with a strength focus, be evidence based, with a clear focus on patient education and their active involvement in the process. I find the positive approach here at the gym assists people in their rehab. It’s a great team here.
